Alexis “Alex” Salinas is an easy going, mellow, and easy-to-talk-to therapist who is looking to break down societal stereotypes of how psychotherapy is perceived. Abiding by the overarching goal of providing a safe and judgment-free space where clients can be themselves and are able to discuss their day’s good and bad without hesitation, his person-centered approach of listening and responding facilitates thoughtful feedback and support. He believes that all people are capable of overcoming adversity and life challenges; they only need a friendly guide to aid them across that stormy river. Being a person who is compassionate with those going through tough times, impartial towards individuals of all different backgrounds and circumstances, and understanding towards how certain issues may affect quality of life, he is committed to building on an individual’s most powerful strengths and assisting them towards achieving their most
desired outcomes. His areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, career development, and stress management.
Alex earned his Master of Science in Education, Mental Health Counseling degree from Hunter College, City University of New York. He completed his internship at Fordham University’s career counseling service, the Career Center. This clinical experience within a professional setting in higher education further developed his capacity to work with a diverse group of individuals.
