I believe successful counseling experiences begin through relationship. My approach to counseling is humanistic and person-centered. Prior to transitioning to the field of counseling I worked extensively within the criminal justice system. I noticed that many individuals that have been traditionally marginalized, for whatever reason, often did not have anyone to turn to. I thought that I might have an opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals who have faced various challenges in life. I specialize in
working with adults and families that have experienced and are working through trauma related issues, grief and bereavement issues, and substance abuse issues. in addition, I specialize in working with adult and emerging adult males looking to process emotions, feelings, stress, and interpersonal relationships.
I use individually tailored counseling tools such as brief psychodynamic exploration, mindfulness training, narrative, breathwork, relaxation techniques, goal setting, and solution focus to offer clients an opportunity to look deep within themselves for answers to life’s questions. I approach counseling from a multicultural perspective and enjoy interacting respectfully with all people. I value the diversity and individuality each person beings to the counseling relationship.
