Welcome, my name is Allegra Negro. My approach to therapy is trauma-informed and patient-centered, meaning that the space I create with you is going to look a little different depending on your individual needs. As someone within the medical industrial complex, I make it my goal to be collaborative with my patients in finding them the best forms of care, whether that be through building community, or wanting to explore the intersections of neurodiversity, race, socioeconomic status, sexuality, gender, and more. To seek care can be intimidating, frightening, and for some, re-traumatizing, so it is vital that I do my best in creating a safe, validating space where we can explore any topic: mental illness, trauma, family, relationships, power dynamics, capitalism, internalized systems of oppression, etc. Overall, the approach I take is to help you better understand the connection between your mind and body. This sometimes looks like using somatic techniques and taking a bottoms-up approach, in which we learn to appreciate how our bodies and minds react to triggers and learn to soothe and comfort ourselves. Other times, this may look like learning to work WITH neurodivergence, instead of against.
I have experience working with children, teens, adults, and couples, as well as those with CPTSD, ADHD, Autism, Depression, Anxiety, and LGBTQ+ identities.
I earned my Bachelors at Sarah Lawrence College, where I studied substance use disorders, childhood development, and child and adult trauma. I received my Masters in Mental Health Wellness and Counseling with an LGBTQ+ certificate from New York University. I look forward to meeting with you!
